Unbelievably, we’re coming up on two weeks since Lexi made her big debut. I think the reason that time is passing by so quickly this time is because our “regular” life has gone on uninterrupted – Parker still needs to wake up at 7am to get to school, the Irishman still needs to leave for work by 8am and whether we’ve gotten any sleep or not, things still need to get done.
So far, we haven’t had any jealously issues with Parker. He gives his sister lots of hugs and kisses and as long as I’m available to tuck him in at night and to cuddle with him in the morning, he’s satisfied. It’s amazing how big he seems to me now, both in sheer size as well as maturity. It’s reassuring to know that while Lexi will be completely dependent on us for the next two years, before we know it, she will be moving and shaking all on her own.
I can’t wait to see how her personality develops and to see how Parker’s changes as he embraces his big brother role. I’m sure there will be moments when I will want to pull my hair out and where I feel completely overwhelmed by being the mother of two, but hopefully, those days will be tempered by weeks of smooth sailing.
